RAJAMOULI'S SECRET MISSION TO AVOID LEAKS

Among the plethora of talented filmmakers you have witnessed in Tollywood, each director has made his mark. But the way one director is recreating history can never be forgotten. He is none other than S S Rajamouli and this tough taskmaster is on a mission to take Tollywood to a very new level.
This is through his magnum opus Baahubali and it is known that some time ago, a leak of a major scene from the film happened. Now, buzz is that Rajamouli has gone on a secret mission to put a check on this. He is currently in Korea along with producer Shobu Yarlagadda and is in discussions with some top grade VFX experts.
Talk is that Rajamouli is determined to get the best graphic output for the movie and at the same time, since Koreans would not have any reason to do mischief with the product and leak it, he considers it a safe avenue to complete the work. Here’s wishing this tough taskmaster the very best of success for his humongous efforts.

Knight Riders relent as Narine appears for retest

West Indies offspinner Sunil Narine underwent a fresh testing process on his bowling action at the Sri Ramachandra Universtity, an ICC-accredited centre, in Chennai on Thursday. The reports from the test are likely to be submitted on Saturday, and by Monday, the BCCI's sub-committee dealing with suspect bowling actions will finalise its decision on whether Narine would be available to play for Kolkata Knight Riders this IPL.
This means Knight Riders were forced to grudgingly accept the BCCI diktat which stated that Narine had to undergo tests at the Chennai centre despite him having got a clearance from the University of Loughborough in March.
It is understood that Narine appeared in front of the BCCI's sub-committee which deals with suspect bowling actions. Former India fast bowler Javagal Srinath is head of the three-man panel which comprises former India captain S Venkataraghavan and ex-international umpire AV Jayaprakash.
Srinath's panel observed Narine in real time and also put him through various tests with the entire process lasting for less than two hours. Apparently the panel did not study the results from the Loughborough centre.
Knight Riders had lodged a protest with BCCI president Jagmohan Dalmiya questioning the necessity of a separate test when Narine had got himself cleared from an ICC-accredited testing centre in Loughborough. But Dalmiya informed the team management that he was helpless and instead of giving an explanation, he suggested it would only benefit the franchise if Narine traveled to Chennai.
Narine remains the most valuable player for Knight Riders, the defending IPL champions, who will play Mumbai Indians in the tournament opener on April 9 at Eden Gardens. After he was called in successive matches during last year's Champions League Twenty20, Narine made a comeback to competitive cricket with Trinidad & Tobago in the Nagico Super50, including a career-best 6 for 9 in the final to overwhelm Guyana.
More importantly, Narine achieved that feat with a new bowling action, which he has been working extensively on in the company of experts like former Pakistan offspinner Saqlain Mushtaq.

IPL giants seek to end title drought

Likely first XI
1 Michael Hussey/Dwayne Smith, 2 Brendon McCullum, 3 Suresh Raina, 4 Faf du Plessis, 5 Dwayne Bravo, 6 MS Dhoni (capt & wk), 7 Ravindra Jadeja, 8 Irfan Pathan, 9 R Ashwin, 10 Ashish Nehra/Ishwar Pandey, 11 Mohit Sharma

2014 finish
After a strong start that included six wins on the trot, Super Kings' form tapered off towards the end of the league phase, but was still good enough to take them to the second qualifier, where they lost a runathon to Kings XI Punjab.
Big picture
R Ashwin's stated ambition of Chennai Super Kings becoming the IPL's Manchester United is the sort of chest-thumping theme fanboys and brand managers swear by. Such comparisons are, however, little more than a gimmicky twist given the relatively recent origins of the tournament itself.
Still, it can't be ignored that Super Kings have been the gold standard for teams in the IPL. They have made the last four in each of the last seven seasons, including four straight final appearances and two titles. Given Super Kings' success rate, three consecutive years without an IPL title is deemed an underachievement. But even as their supporters twitch nervously, Super Kings are unlikely to panic.
The team's accomplishments have come on the strength of sameness, and despite the inevitable shuffling, they have managed to keep their core intact, investing mainly in must-haves at the auction. Michael Hussey, who played for Mumbai Indians last year, is back, even as captain MS Dhoni, Suresh Raina, and Ashwin remain the team's constants.
Another familiar figure is coach Stephen Fleming, whose cricket brain is only one of his many strengths in the set-up. Apart from rigorously implementing his pet phrase 'consistency of selection,' he has also been Super Kings' trusted stone-waller at media interactions. His man-management methods - ranging from prankish bonding exercises to crisp team meetings - have kept the unit in a happy place.
On the field, what hurt Super Kings the most in 2014 was the runs bled by their seamers. Their three frontline bowlers were hit around for more than eight an over. Seam-bowling has been their longstanding weak spot, and they tried to remedy it at the auction, acquiring Kyle Abbott, Irfan Pathan and Andrew Tye, who Aaron Finch called the find of last season's Big Bash League, after offloading Ben Hilfenhaus and James Hastings. With Mohit Sharma, Matt Henry, Ashish Nehra, Ishwar Pandey and Dwayne Bravo already in the squad, it would appear this flank has more beef now.
The batting department doesn't lend itself to much change, but Hussey's arrival will likely see him opening with Brendon McCullum, while Dwayne Smith, Super Kings' highest-scorer last year, will remain an option as well.
Big players
Super Kings have a big complement of star names to call on, with Dhoni and Raina, who hasn't yet missed a single IPL fixture, leading the way. But this year's big draw has to be Brendon McCullum, after his smash-mouth striking - 328 runs at a strike-rate of 188.50 - and leadership brought New Zealand within a match of the World Cup title.
McCullum was the third-highest scorer for Super Kings last year with 405 runs at an average of 31.15, but with a surprisingly middling strike-rate of 121.62. Super Kings will also do well to remember that his dropping down to No.4 in the knockout games yielded poor returns.
Bargain buy
With every ball Kyle Abbott bowled in the World Cup - he picked up nine wickets in the four matches as replacement for the injured Vernon Philander- the Super Kings management must have been progressively thrilled. At Rs 30 lakh (US$50,000), Abbott was shopped for a steal. Abbott is tall, pacy and is capable of swinging the ball. It helps that he is tidy - at 4.19, he was South Africa's most economical bowler in the tournament.

Underachievers RCB look for substance over style

Likely XI
1 Chris Gayle, 2 Manvinder Bisla/ Mandeep Singh, 3 Virat Kohli (capt), 4 AB de Villiers, 5 Dinesh Karthik (wk), 6 S Badrinath, 7 Darren Sammy, 8 Varun Aaron, 9 Yuzvendra Chahal, 10 Ashok Dinda, 11 Sean Abbott/ Mitchell Starc/ Adam Milne

2014 finish
Seventh, out of eight teams, with five wins and nine losses.
Big picture
Royal Challengers Bangalore crave flamboyance. Their personnel are largely a bunch of big-hitters sprinkled with quicks who can clock 150 kph. Even their exploits in auctions - waging bidding wars to hike up prices and drain opposition reserves - grab attention. The star-studded team, but never the constellation grouped together with the IPL trophy in hand.
They lack for a sense of occasion - losing the very first match of the tournament and coming second-best in two finals. They stumble in matches that are there for the taking - a knockout spotscuppered in 2012 after failing in a 133 chase against Deccan Chargers, who had lost 11 out of 14 matches. That RP Singh no-ball to Ravindra Jadeja in 2013. Last year, they were 3-4 at the halfway stage before losing the next two. One of those after Yuvraj Singh had muscled 83 off 38 balls and then snagged 4 for 35.
So this year, they've gone for depth. They are one of two squads with 26 players, which is handy since Mitchell Starc will miss three weeks to a knee problem and Adam Milne is recovering from a heel injury. India quick Varun Aaron becomes the attack leader. "You get on to the field knowing that a lot rests on your shoulders to do well, which I feel is a good motivating factor," he toldDeccan Herald.
Last season, Royal Challengers were thin on local batsmen as well, so Rs 10.5 crores was shelled on Dinesh Karthik. S Badrinath is the failsafe and Mandeep Singh, rookie Sarfaraz Khan and Manvinder Bisla are solid back-ups. They've even addressed fans' clamour for a local player by including uncapped Karnataka batsman Shishir Bhavane.
Royal Challengers are planet IPL-wood's A-Listers and the imminent cause for M Chinnaswamy stadium to turn into pure sound. They couldn't make the Champions League Twenty20 last October, but chants of "R-C-B! R-C-B!" did. Virat Kohli's men thrive from that rumble, but if they want to hear it beyond the group stage, they need to at least be as good as the sum of their parts.
Big Players
If you're taking a trip down the Royal Challengers line-up, don't tell Michael Bay. It's potential to go boom will even leave the director of the Transformers franchise with a complex. If Virat Kohli is the leading man and AB de Villiers is the show stopper, then Chris Gayle is the crowd puller. The bandanna is there, bright red shades may come in tow, but is he still the bully of the yard? Plagued by a back injury, he doesn't run - which impacts his partner worse - and can consume too many balls when he doesn't pay off. Both those limitations were on display in 2014 when he made only 196 runs in nine matches at a strike-rate of 106.52.
They said T20s would kill spinners off, but the 10 best economy rates in the format all belong to spinners. The ones under Daniel Vettori's charge - Yuzvendra Chahal and Iqbal Abdulla - are quite similar to him; they rely on accuracy more than turn for their wickets as well. A small home ground is the likely reason for their limited investment in spin, but pace off the ball has been known to cause momentum shifts in T20 as Chahal proved last year with 12 wickets at an economy of 7.01.
Bargain buy
Gone are the years when fast bowlers take a couple of balls to warm up. Ask Brendon McCullum.Adam Milne is part of that breed and his extreme pace can render the nature of the pitch null and void, as an economy of 4.84 in nine matches played in the subcontinent and UAE suggests. Fifty lakh barely makes a dent in terms of IPL money, but can Royal Challengers accommodate him among the four overseas players?

Rohit seeks room for on-field banter

Players are hoping umpires will allow them a little more leeway for on-field banter during the upcoming IPL season, if a unique interaction on Saturday is a sign to go by. The point is believed to have been made by Rohit Sharma, the Mumbai Indians captain, during an interaction with match officials on the first day of the two-day IPL officials' conclave.
It is understood that Rohit urged umpires to not intervene when players are involved in banter that stays within stipulated boundaries. Rohit was all for players behaving well, but urged that they be allowed to express themselves in the heat of the moment as long as they don't cross the limits.
One of the key reasons for the BCCI to invite a captain for the conclave was to make the officials understand players' perspectives. The BCCI officials also felt the need for such an initiative because of the increased involvement of Indian match officials. For the first time since the IPL's inception in 2008, Indian officials this season will considerably outnumber their overseas counterparts. Of the 26 match officials recruited for the IPL's 2015 season, 17 - 13 umpires and four match referees - are Indian.
The officials welcomed the initiative and were delighted to have heard the players' views in an informal situation. According to one of the officials in attendance, the initiative would "definitely be helpful for the umpires as well as players."
Besides Rohit's interaction, the first day of the workshop saw Simon Taufel, the ICC's umpire performance and training manager, brief officials about the dos and don'ts of umpiring in high-pressure situations.

NO AFFAIR WITH HER, SAYS DIRECTOR RAVIBABU

Affairs and rumors about affairs between a hero and heroine are quite common in our industry. Somehow our directors seldom fall into this section or in other words, they are less rumored about their off-screen relationships. But here is actor and director Ravi Babu who is being linked with an actress he worked for a couple of movies.
When quizzed about the same in a recent interview, Ravi Babu out rightly turned down such allegations as mere rumors. “No…not at all. I have earlier worked with Bhoomika for three films. That doesn’t mean I have an affair with her either” said Ravi Babu. He added “I’m a professional filmmaker and I maintain ethics. Unless regarding work, I hardly contact my actors after the working hours”

Well that is good to hear but too hard to believe for the naysayers. Anyhow, let us hope the air is cleared with this clarification from Ravi Babu himself. By the way, you weren’t told about who the actress is…right? She is none other Avunu fame Poorna.

Director about affair with his heroine

Telugu Film industry, for that matter any film industry is not averse to rumours and link-ups. Gossips and rumours spread faster than any other things here. And such news is bound to crop up when a director gives a not so popular heroine, three chances in a row. Yes it happened with Poorna and Ravibabu.Poorna is the female lead in all the last three Ravibabu films - Avunu, Laddu Babu and Avunu 2. Lot is written about that 'something' between them with those three films. Finally Ravibabu clears air. "I am not a person who stays in touch with my cast or technicians once we pack up or finish a movie. Poorna is one of the most dedicated actress on sets I have ever come across. There is no affair or relationship", Ravibabu clarified."Given a choice, I will cast Poorna in all my films", declared Ravibabu. Avunu-2 is gearing up for release this Friday. Poorna is seen at hottest avatar ever in this film. Along with Poorna, Harsha Vardhan Rane and few other characters who played the lead roles in Avunu will be reprising their roles in this sequel film too. 'Avunu 2' is being jointly produced by Flying Frogs and Suresh

S/O Satyamurthy Inside Talk release on April 9th

Stylish Star Allu Arjun's S/O Satyamurthy is all set for a grand release on April 9th. There are huge expectations riding on the film from all quarters. And to satisfy our readers' curiosity, we are letting out the Inside Talk of the movie.

Our sources say the influence of Attarintiki Daredi and many other family entertainers in recent times can be clearly seen on the film. The First half of the film is stuffed with romance and fun which goes well. However the movie derails in the second half with dropping pace and high amount of predictability. However the movie is still an average to okay watch for audience this summer.
