Burglar gang kills two police personnel at Suryapet bus station

          Two police personnel were shot dead by an alleged burglar gang at Hi-Tech bus station in Suryapet at 12.20 a.m. on Thursday. Two others including Suryapet Inspector, Y. Mogalaiah were seriously injured.
Meanwhile, the suspected gang also shot a person Dorababu, who was proceeding towards Vijaywada from Hyderabad along with his wife Sandhyarani in his car. The deceased have been identified as constable Lingaiah and home guard Mahesh, who were working with Suryapet Police station.
Injured Inspector Mogalaiah, home guard Kishore were shifted to KIMS Hospital in Hyderabad for better treatment.
According to the Police, they had information that some Uttara Pradesh-based burglar gang, which was earlier involved in a theft in Suryapet, was coming to Suryapet in a bus.
A Police team led by Inspector, Mogalaiah had arrived at the Hi-Tech bus station at around 9 p.m. on Wednesday to conduct regular checks.
At 12.20 a.m. the bus station wore a deserted look. The Police found couple of persons disembarked from a bus and moving suspiciously. When they tried to enquire about their identity, one of the burglars opened fire suddenly on them injuring four of the police personnel seriously.
Two of the police personnel died on the spot. While fleeing from the place, the burglar gang also attempted to obstruct the car of a couple, natives of Jagandhapuram in West Godavari Disrtict.
Dorababu also sustained a bullet injury on his shoulder as the burglar gang members shot at him as he refused to stop the vehicle. Carbine of one of the weapons belonging to the police went missing from the incident spot.
The Police also have found one Odisha voter ID card at the crime scene, which the police have reportedly identified as a fake one. Police are suspecting the burglar gang might have proceeded towards Khammam in an attempt to cross Telangana border to enter Odisha near Bhadrachalam area.
Meanwhile, the Police have sounded high alert across Telangana. Superintendent of Police T. Prabhakar Rao, said that they were going through CC Camera footage at the bus station.
